A radio seires about over-dependence,
in urban planning and in relationships

Radio series
6  x 40 mins
Co-created with Snorri Rafn Hallsson
Produced for the National Broadcasting Station of Iceland
2023

In this radio series, Arnar breaks up with his car
or, at least, re-evaluates his relationship with it.

The series explore romantic relationships and breakups, urban planning and chaos, cruising, the car washs, technological rationalism, independence, and dependency.

We cannot continue to rely on the car as our primary mode of transport.  But why is it so difficult?

I love the car.  I don’t know how I could live here without it; I love driving, and I connect with myself and others in it.
It is a mobile root in my life.

How did this happen? How can a metal container with an engine and rubber tires become an inseparable part of our identity? What happens when the dreamlike golden days with the car are over?

Do we need to say goodbye to the car entirely, or can we find a balance in our relationship that serves both parties?
